Europe Day celebrated through the HI EU project

As part of the HI EU project at the University of Dubrovnik, Europe Day (9 May) was marked through a range of activities in several primary and secondary schools across the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. The events brought together students and teachers and highlighted the importance of European values and cooperation among young people.

Europe Day with the Dubrovnik School of Economics and Business

EPAS (European Parliament Ambassador School) ambassadors from the Dubrovnik School of Economics and Business, together with ambassadors from the Secondary School fra Andrije Kačića Miošića in Ploče, spent Europe Day on a special trip aboard the hybrid catamaran Lacroma, the first vessel of its kind built in a Croatian shipyard. The journey started in Gruž Port and continued towards the Trsteno Arboretum and Lokrum Island, giving students a chance to experience the natural and cultural heritage of the Dubrovnik area in practice.

During the trip, the HI EU project developed by the University of Dubrovnik was also presented as a platform that connects young people and promotes European values, cooperation, and active citizenship. The project places particular focus on encouraging critical thinking about European topics, strengthening democratic culture, and motivating students and teachers to take part in European educational and social initiatives.

The catamaran Lacroma was presented as a successful example of the use of EU funds, as well as a symbol of sustainable mobility and innovation in maritime transport.

Through shared activities, students had the opportunity to exchange experiences, strengthen cooperation, and better understand the role of the European Union in education, mobility, and the sustainable development of local communities. A special emphasis was placed on the importance of involving young people in European projects and initiatives that encourage active participation and strengthen European identity.

Europe Day also marked in other schools

Europe Day was also celebrated at Popovac Primary School, where students were introduced to European cultural and social diversity, as well as the HI EU project, through various educational activities.

At Gruda Primary School, Europe Day was marked with fun and interactive activities that introduced students in a creative way to the HI EU project and European values. Through educational games and teamwork tasks, they learned more about the European Union and the importance of unity, cooperation, and connection among young people. The activities encouraged students to participate actively, exchange ideas, and better understand the opportunities that European projects offer.

At Bol Secondary School, Europe Day was marked by presenting the HI EU project and European values. Through an interactive presentation, students actively participated in discussions, developing critical thinking about the role of the European Union and the importance of shared European values.
